communism.

it's exciting. the idea of riding my bicycle across the williamsburg bridge with all the other bicyclists. we're on one side and the walkers are on the other. we are doing our own thing at our own speed. the idea is thrilling and magical and great.

that's why when I ride across the bridge and i'm riding really fast on the bikers' side and there is some jackass fuck who can't tell the difference between walking and riding signs i become incensed. it's irrational perhaps on some levels but then totally rational on others. because these are simple rules. walk over there and we ride over here. get your slow ass over to the other side and walk with the other fat asses. (sometimes, the asses aren't flabby and the abs are tight and glistening, but i'm still thinking things like: if you were half as smart as your abs are flat you'd BE. ON. THE. OTHER. SIDE. fuckhead.)

as i was cursing i wondered why in the hell i care? i mean they (the dumbdumbface walkers) aren't exactly impacting me. but they are! i rationalize. I have to put my brakes on. and, if you've just ridden up the billburg bridge hill you want the reward of the wind through your helmet.

but it seems it's more than that. it's rules. it's courtesy. it's safety. it's not being a huge giant selfish prickface who wants to walk on this side and not that side. it's putting yourself before the common good.

am i a bike communist?
