academia

i haven't shared an academic sentence with you in so many posts. i think the last one was krauthammer, but i can't be sure and i'm sure as hell not going to go back and check, so get over it. i read a book called king leopold's ghost. and here are the two last sentences, maybe you don't even think they're that great, but i sorta think it's intéressant


At the time of the Congo controversy* a hundred years ago, the idea of full human rights, political, social, and economic, was a profound threat to the established order of most countries on earth. It still is today.


*Massacres by perhaps the millions of Africans by Belgian colonizers. Hands were severed to prove the murders were carried out, though sometimes, hands were cut off living humans. Bad King Leopold, bad. Plus, your beard is stupid.
